About Us
Andy Barker
MSc, BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC
Andy brings wealth of elite sport and private practice experience to with over 15 years of experience within both fields.
Starting his career at the Leeds Rhinos in 2010, Andy quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Head of Physiotherapy & Rehab the following year, a position he held until 2018.
Andy then left this role to consult at the Football Association, a role he still holds today, supporting the England football team both home and away.
From 2021-2024 Andy was also consultant physiotherapist to the England Rugby Men's Senior team, and was part of the medical team at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
Andy has also previously worked within professional netball, boxing and martial arts.
He graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Bradford with a first class honours degree which followed on from a previous Bachelor of Science degree from Leeds Metropolitan University in Sports Performance Coaching.
Andy has a keen interest in injury prevention and the biomechanics of movement and completed a Masters degree in this area (Sports and Exercise Biomechanics at Leeds Beckett University in 2017).
He has since completed his injection therapy training at Sheffield Hallam University and leads our service here at Leeds Joint Injections.
Ben Harper
MSc, PGcert, BSc, MCSP, HCPC
Ben has over a decade of experience as a physiotherapist working at the highest levels of professional sport, most recently working for Team GB as a lead clinician during the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Ben combines his time in clinic alongside his role as a consultant physiotherapist at GB Taekwondo.
Prior to this role he spent time in Rugby League with England, Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers, Jamaica, and finally at Huddersfield Giants, where he was the Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
Ben has an extensive portfolio of postgraduate qualifications, achieving masters level certificates in Strength & Conditioning and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging, as well as modules in applied clinical anatomy, independent prescribing and injection therapy.
These qualifications allow him to use diagnostic ultrasound to aid an accurate diagnosis of injury and provide ultrasound guided injections when needed.
