Steroids are a man-made version of hormones produced by the body.
When injected into a joint or muscle, they help to reduce inflammation and can give relief of pain, swelling and stiffness.
The effects of the steroid injection can take 48-72 hrs to see results, however some patients will see results immediately.
The effect of the injection can last 3-6 months with some lasting up to a year.
Ostenil®Plus is a solution containing hyaluronic acid.
When injected into a joint the injection works by restoring the normal balance between the breakdown and production of hyaluronic acid, which is the lubricant that allows joints to move freely and smoothly.
The effect of an Ostenil®Plus injection are usually felt within 2-4 weeks, and can last in excess of 6 months.
Some conditions may benefit from both a steroid and Ostenil®Plus injection. These can be administered at the same time.
This is a new product to the injection therapy market!
Arthrosamid injections contain a high volume hydrogel that binds to the joint capsule and joint surfaces.
This product has been designed for use for people with severe knee joint pain and is used in conditions such as knee osteoarthritis.
Arthrosamid works by lining the joint with the hydrogel that acts as a long lasting buffer between the weight bearing bony surfaces of the knee joint, which can offer massive reductions in joint pain.
Aspiration is the removal of fluid from a swollen joint or other body area.
This will help quickly reduce pain and restore joint movement and can be a great intervention to get you back on the road to recovery and help you get back to full fitness.
Hydrodilatation is a procedure to improve movement and decrease pain in the shoulder joint.
The procedure involves stretching the capsule of the joint and reducing the inflammation within it by injecting a mixture of sterile saline, local anaesthetic and steroid directly into the shoulder joint.
The procedure can often give instant relief to the shoulder and is especially effective for problems such as frozen shoulder.
Prolotherapy involves the injection of a sugar based solution into an injured soft tissue.
Such injections are commonly used for ligament injuries to the knee and ankle...
And can be administered as a single or course of injections, depending upon the injury.
We can provide ultrasound scans to help diagnose muscle, tendon and ligament injuries.
